What do you need to know about sushi?

Sushi is the most popular dish of Asian cuisine. Initially, however, this method of preparing fish was associated more with preserving it rather than eating it. Fish prepared in this way had a much longer shelf life. Today, sushi enjoys unflagging popularity almost all over the world. New restaurants specializing in serving this characteristic delicacy are also opening more and more frequently in Poland. An example is Kraków's Sushi Friends (https://www.sushifriends.com.pl/), located at 26 Klonowica Street in Podgórze Duchackie. The restaurant's offer includes exceptional sets consisting of even 200 or 300 sushi rolls, which can make any party or family gathering special.

Types of sushi

It is worth knowing at least the most popular ones to be able to choose the best version for yourself:

  • sushi nigiri – the easiest to prepare, though by no means lacking in flavor! It has the shape of an elongated ball, surrounded by rice. The whole thing is complemented by fish and seafood. Sushi is served with wasabi, which gives it a characteristic, spicy flavor,
  • sushi maki – this type of sushi is probably known to all fans of Asian cuisine. It differs from the previous version by its outer layer made of nori seaweed, which gives the dish its recognizable appearance. Sushi maki is most often prepared with vegetables or seafood. A special mat is used for this, making it possible to give the dish its characteristic shape,
  • futomaki – the slices here can reach up to 6 cm in thickness. However, their unique appearance is given to them by cucumber or lettuce, which in this case act as a decoration,
  • Temaki is a simple version that everyone who makes sushi on their own loves. Preparing temaki is very fast. It resembles an ice cream cone filled with rice, fish, and vegetables.,
  • uramaki – somewhat similar to sushi maki, although here rice serves as the outer layer, and the nori sheet is placed inside. Often, the whole thing is rolled in sesame seeds, which enhances the flavor of this unique dish.

The mentioned types of sushi are definitely the most common, although over the years many other proposals have been created, delighting with taste and tempting with appearance. A rich selection of sushi can be found, among others, in the aforementioned Sushi Friends restaurant. The venue's offer includes a whole range of options, which can be viewed in Sushi Friends Menu – among so many possibilities, everyone will surely find something for themselves.
