Advice for a young accountant

When you graduate with a degree in economics or accounting, you face the dilemma of choosing a future career in which you will both use the knowledge gained during your studies and be able to learn new things and make a living. You can take a job in one of the many companies operating across the country, because every single one of them, even if it does not employ accountants, has an accounting office that serves it.

Prepare yourself, however, for long hours sitting at a desk, staring at the computer, shuffling piles of documents (watch out for paper cuts), making summaries and tables in various programs, for example in Excel. Numbers and figures will not be a problem for you, but you probably know that since you chose economics studies and at least imagine what accounting looks like. Well, but you probably already had an internship somewhere and saw what such work looks like. Do not think, however, that graduating from university is the end of your education.

Subscription to economic magazines

Working in accounting, you need to stay up to date with current regulations, so you should follow, for example, any tax changes that may cause a different way of completing documentation or booking invoices. A good solution is subscribing to professional magazines or following economic portals that discuss the problems of current regulations and their changes, as well as numerous training sessions. Thanks to all this, you will be a better accountant, and your supervisor will see that you care about your job, which may result in a raise or bonus.
